Anne & Stuart's wedding at the Cathedral Quarter Hotel, Derby

It's safe to say that the Cathedral Quarter Hotel in Derby has to be one of my favourite city-chic style wedding venues, so I was quite happy to be spending the day with Anne and Stuart and their families at their wedding back in the summer.

Anne was getting ready in the split-level apartment upstairs, so it was an easy wander up to get some 'before' shots.

We had to get a shot of Stuart by the stylish main door.

Then back upstairs to see the finishing touches!

Coverage during the ceremony was nice and discreet, shooting from the back with a good wide angle lens to really capture the character of the ceremony room.

I loved the way the light bounced around and almost spotlit the couple while they signed the registers. Though it was a tougher job to make sure that flower in the windowsill didn't shoot up from Stuart's head for the official shot :)

The couple's daughters were their bridesmaids, so we paid special attention to getting some ace shots of them, both in a photojournalistic style, and as a family later on...

I even managed to catch Stuart showing his creative side :)

The one thing I love more than anything about the Cathedral Quarter Hotel is that our photowalks are unique. To be able to get shots around the sumptuous surroundings of the hotel and then within a few minutes be able to explore in areas like the one above is just amazing!

After a few family shots like the one above, we sent the girls back to relax while I worked Anne and Stuart a bit harder on the urban stage of our photowalk...

Finally arriving back at the hotel to make the most of the amazing interiors.

Congratulations Anne & Stuart!

Hannah & Jamie's Wedding at Makeney Hall, Derbyshire

It was off to the delightful Makeney Hall for Hannah & Jamie's wedding earlier this year.

Although the wind did its best to ruin my best laid plans, we all had a fabulous time and enjoyed the Spring sunshine. Hannah started the afternoon getting ready in the luxurious wedding suite, and of course I invited myself in :)

Hannah and her bridesmaids.

Of course Jamie was busy getting ready (with some help!) downstairs.

Hannah specially requested that we try to get some sort of shot of her walking down the staircase to show off this impressive tapestry - I think this really gives a good sense of scale.

After the ceremony it was time to head outside for photographs and chat :)

Then Hannah, Jamie, and I did battle with the wind again, before finally using it to our advantage later on.

I love this low key, dramatic shot of Hannah striking a pose. It's a great illustration of just what we can do when the weather isn't really on our side!

And one last windswept shot grabbed quickly on the way inside...

Congratulations Hannah & Jamie!

Kerrie's Bump to Baby Photo Sessions

Here's a post that's been nine months in the making.

We photographed Kerrie & Matt's wedding a couple of years ago (you can see those shots here) and were thrilled when she came to us with the idea of making a sequence of shots to document her pregnancy.

We shot several sessions spread out over the months, all with different looks and styles, but always a few dark moody shots with the intention of making a montage at the end.

Thanks to our friends over at Morley Hayes, we even managed some fairytale like shots in their beautiful woodland areas!

For one of the last sessions, we dragged Matt, and Donut the dog over to jump in a few shots too.

Donut the dog seemed less than impressed most of the time.

Considering the amount of money we have to spend on equipment and fancy lighting, one of my fave shots was the one below shot by simple soft window light.

Finally, we all got to say hello to baby Matilda!

Which also meant that we had the last shot required for the beautiful montage below...

Many congratulations to Kerrie, Matt, Matilda and Donut!
